I often get emails asking about honeymoon destinations. Travel is something almost as close to my heart as the (rather sticky) Mars bar I keep in my top pocket. If I had to choose between sweets and travel I would eat the sweets, then travel.
Of course there are many fantastic place to visit and this week I am going to give you a few suggestions and talk about some things to consider.

Admiralty Bay, Bequia
I believe that romance is something inside us, so with a bit of imagination most places can be a romantic destination. Whatever your budget, and wherever you go, don't forget to plan a little romance for you and your partner. A picnic by a stream, a flower on a pillow - all these gestures can make so many beautiful moments.
Here are a few (and there are many more) suggestions for Island Romance...
??? Vamiz, Mozambique
??? Ile Des Deux, Mauritius
??? Orkney, Scotland
??? Sindabezi Island Camp, Zambezi
??? Bequia, Eastern Caribbean
??? Wadigi Island,Fiji
??? Little Eden Cay, Nicaragua
??? Whitsundays, Australia
??? Taprobane Island, Sri Lanka
??? Bora Bora, French Polynesia
??? Dhoni Mighili, Maldives
??? Lakshwadeep Islands, off Kerala, India
??? Ko Phi Phi/Ko Lanta, Thailand
??? Cuba
If you don't fancy an island, then how about an ice hotel in Sweden, a photo safari in Africa or a walking holiday in the Lake District? I have set up a forum topic here for members to tell us where they are going on honeymoon, and offer suggestions.

Eastern Caribbean
Here are a few things to consider when thinking about your honeymoon...
??? When choosing a destination, think about what kind of honeymoon you would like. A relaxing time on the beach, adventure, sightseeing - or a bit of everything?
??? Keep in mind the suntan lotion and skin care for trips to hot climates. Remember, you burn much faster when around water.
??? Is the trip booked in your maiden name or married name? Does this match your passport?
??? Always check the weather at your possible destination. Just because it is summer at home doesn't mean it isn't winter/monsoon season etc abroad!
?????Check to see if you need a visa and leave enough time to get it if you do.
??? Vaccinations are necessary for some destinations. Your GP (local doctor) should be able to advise you.
??? Don't forget to take a small first-aid kit - things like bite cream, aftersun lotion and aspirin (or equivalent).
??? Certain places are very expensive when there are local events on, such as the Rio carnival. Budget accordingly.
??? Before booking, check exactly what is included in the package! i.e. Excursions, meals, taxes, and extra activities.
??? "When in Rome" - Research in advance and always honour local cultural considerations. For example, dress appropriately for the location.
??? Travel insurance often doesn't cover accidents when under the influence of alcohol and may not cover 'dangerous' activities, such as water sports or bungee jumping.
??? It might be wise to keep your passport and travel documents in a zip-lock bag so they don't get wet. Never leave your documents lying around - keep them in the hotel safe or hidden on your person.
??? Bring along your BSAC/PADI licence if you have one and want to go diving.
??? Buy a guide book, or get one from the library.
??? Post your honeymoon piccies on your WeddingPath to share with friends and family.
??? Don't keep all your money/credit cards/travellers' cheques in one place.
