Barbara's top tips
Choosing a photographer is important for every soon-to-be-wed couple. Find someone you really ‘click’ with!! And find out how they like to work. Mike French at Meonshore Weddings likes to meet for some trial photographs before the wedding to get to know each other and get over any 'wedding nerves'. He also does a follow on session for ‘trash your dress’!

Nice idea…
I’ve been helping a couple plan their wedding in New York. We have come across a hotel that offers a ‘signature drink’. This is a cocktail, created by the bride and groom, served as the welcome drink when guests arrive from the ceremony. They ask the couple to come up with a name for it. Then on the day, the waiters tell guests what they are drinking as they serve it. Why not ask your caterer or venue if they can do something similar? You could even tie your cocktail in with your colour scheme!

Day in the life of a wedding planner
I spent a lot of today talking to our favourite chair cover supplier, she has over 30 colours in stock now, and is happily making us bespoke chair cover sashes for a 'pumpkin theme' wedding in October this year!! Chair covers really do transform a venue, and are often worth that little extra investment.

I’ve also been busy today looking for cake boxes for cup cakes that are slightly larger than usual. I can only find them in the States, so am getting them sent to our wedding planner in New York, who will then forward them on – hopefully in time for the wedding on the 29th March!

Q&A forum
I had an email from someone asking for advice on how to arrange for somewhere for hats to be put at a marquee wedding. I suggested hanging strips of pretty ribbon down the side of the marquee with some nice clothes peg. Get a hat from a charity shop (a nice one!) as an example and clip it to the pegs…then all the other guests will know what to do.

And finally..
Come and see us at the National Wedding Show in Birmingham this weekend, we have a make up artist on our stand who is doing wedding day make up/makeovers – why not come along and learn some tips of the trade from a professional?
