WEDDING GOSSIP Ticket to Ride 8507 views
Eco weddings are the way to go and with the price of petrol on the up, who needs a limo to get to the church on time? A few weekends ago, bride and groom, Stefanie and Robert took the tube - it was the perfect 'green wedding' day.
On Saturday 12th July, no ordinary wedding took place - and their choice of transport was just as unique. The London-based couple decided to go green and take the tube from their local station, Dollis Hill to Marylebone registry office. Perhaps not the most glamorous entrance, it fitted in with the eco-friendly wedding the couple had planned. Bride Stefanie commented, 'It was important for both of us to have an environmentally friendly wedding. I encouraged my relatives to travel over from Germany by Eurostar or by coach, as opposed to flying the short distance.' While husband Robert says, 'We live quite close
to our local station in Dollis Hill and the registry office is not far from Baker Street station, so what better way to travel there than by Tube?'
And the green wedding didn't stop there with most aspects being eco-friendly from Stefanie's second-hand engagement ring to her
dress which was made from dyable and reusable material and the wedding stationery, homemade using recycled card. Even the catering at the reception was made using local produce, including an organic wedding cake. The couple carried on in true eco-warrior style with a honeymoon trip around Europe by train. Perhaps we should all take a leaf out of their book. Fancy a green wedding anyone?
