WEDDING GOSSIP Girl In A White Dress 21 9946 views

Our resident bride and wedding expert, Cheryl, is back from her big day and floating on a wedding-induced cloud of loveliness, and will be talking weddings with you every week...

It’s one of those debates that usually gets people disagreeing with each other in a slightly huffy way – whether or not to have children at your wedding.

I can see the arguments for both sides. If you opt to have little people running around on your big day, you’ll need to feed and entertain them. But if you impose a kiddie ban at your wedding, you risk some of your guests declining to attend the celebrations on grounds of toddler discrimination.

I quite like being surrounded by small people in pretty party dresses so we invited children to our wedding, which meant we had lots of ahh-factor photo opportunities with only a minimal amount of whimpering during the vows. It also meant that our family-orientated guests were able to share in our special day.

So, if you are leaning towards inviting the rugrats, I saw a great way to keep them entertained – Mad Mosaics are a husband and wife team who travel to weddings to entertain little ones with mosaic making. While you’re enjoying a grown-up cocktail or three, the kids will be safely (and more or less quietly) creating their own works of art.

They use sparkly beads, tiles, mirror bits, confetti shapes, and fluffy feathers, finished off with pretty glitter, so there’s no messy grout to spoil their best clothes either.

It costs £300 for 70 guests (so adults can join in too!) for up to three and a half hours of tuition. Or if you prefer, they can provide DIY kits priced at £10 you can put on a kids’ table and let the young’uns get on with it. And they make lovely keepsakes from your day, too.

Let us know what you’re planning to keep kids entertained on your big day…
