BOWOOD HOUSE & GARDENS, WILTSHIRE

Apprentice candidates Claire, Sara, Jennifer (Celerier), Alex, Michael and Kevin were seen spending a very English afternoon at Bowood House & Gardens in the last series. Bowood is also a fabulous setting for a quintessentially English wedding.

Located between Calne and Chippenham, Sir Alan Sugar arranged for the candidates to leave the tension of the Boardroom behind them as a helicopter whisked them off to the rolling Wiltshire countryside. Within Bowood’s Grade I listed parkland (mapped out by the fashionable 18th century garden designer, Capability Brown) the group then had a chance to unwind and enjoy archery, golf and a fairytale English afternoon tea in a very stately setting.

The Golf & Country Club at Bowood is where weddings are held and is one of the top venues in the area. With two rooms licensed for ceremonies, the whole day can be held under one roof, from start to finish. Decorated by Lady Landsdowne, the Fitzmaurice Room holds up to 52 guests and the Clanmaurice Room 62.

For the reception, the purpose-built Kerry Suite can cater for up to 200 guests for a sit-down meal. It can also be divided up into three smaller rooms for more intimate wedding parties. With its own private bar, the Suite is completely self-contatined, making sure you have total privacy and seclusion on the day.

A range of wedding packages meet every budget and style of wedding. Room hire starts at £395 for the ceremony and from £750 for the reception with three-course wedding menus from £31.50 each. A recent addition to the Estate, the Bowood hotel, offers plenty of accommodation for guests to stay over, including a complimentary room allocated for the bride and groom for the night of the wedding.
