VENUE London Calling 2200 views
Whether you know Somerset House for its ice rink or just as a London landmark, the good news is that it's just been licensed for weddings.
For the first time in its long and prestigious history, Somerset House is available for weddings and civil ceremonies. The eighteenth-century palace is a fabulously grand neo-classical building on the North bank of the River Thames with views across the whole of the South Bank and Palace of Westminster.
The perfect setting for weddings, on the big day, entrances will be made through the dramatic Strand Vestibule into the public Edmond J Safra Fountain Court, an Italian-style piazza and stunning location for photographs. The Portico Rooms provide a flexible space for guests to gather with the ceremony held in the main Portico Room. After the ceremony, the party continues in The Navy Board Rooms for a stand up reception or the Portico Rooms for a seated wedding breakfast, with two balconies offering uninterrupted
views of the River Thames on one side, and the Fountain Court on the other. For a glamorous evening reception, The Seamen’s Hall accommodates up to 150 guests with a dance floor and private use of the beautiful River Terrace.
Somerset House is able to accommodate up to 80 guests for a ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 150 guests for an evening reception and dancing. Catering is provided by the venue’s list of 10 accredited caterers, chosen to provide a variety of styles to suit all tastes, with Leith’s having sole catering rights for evening receptions in the Seamen’s Hall.
