Stephanie & Paul
9 June 2007

They Met While Stephanie was studying law at the University of Northumbria and Paul was playing for Sunderland AFC, they met at a nightclub on Newcastle’s Quayside.

Wedding Venue Stephanie and Paul started looking for their venue two years before their wedding. Eventually they found their perfect venue with help from The White Wedding Company. They chose Newby Hall because of its magical and romantic setting with beautiful gardens and meadows complete with grazing sheep and llamas - as well as wonderful staff.

The Theme The couple chose an English country garden theme mixed with golden era romance with lots of chocolate browns, shades of peach and pale pink and antique gold. They decorated their marquee with organza and roses with little paper hearts hung on soft trails of ribbon as well as heart shaped bay trees at the entrance. They chose favours of little handmade soaps and the tables were named according to Paul’s love of football with the top table called ‘The Director’s Box’.

What They Wore The bride looked stunning in a romantic Amy Michelson dress, from Caroline Castigliano International Rooms in Knightsbridge with a lace bodice and organza skirt. Timeless and classic, the dress gave her the old Hollywood glamour effect she had hoped for, in the style of Grace Kelly. The bride accessorized with an antique gold tiara with roses, soft pink Gina shoes and a delicate diamond bracelet, given to her by her grandparents.

The groom wore a dark chocolate brown suit with an ivory waistcoat and cravat along with a pearl tie pin and cufflinks which were gifts from the bride on the night before the wedding. Paul wore a buttonhole of a single cream Vandella rose with foliage.

The bride had four bridesmaids, who all wore floor length chocolate brown dresses with sashes, from Coast. As the finishing touch, they had pearl bracelets and earrings, specially made. The bride’s mother presented each of the girls with dressing gowns on the morning of the wedding, personalised with ‘Bride’, ‘Bridesmaid’ and ‘Mother of the bride’ on the back.

The Cake The cake was made by Stephanie’s aunt with four tiers covered in ivory icing, decorated with bands of chocolate brown ribbon around each tier, trailing ivy and ivory roses.

The Flowers Stephanie carried a simple, elegant hand-tied bouquet of pale peach avalanche roses, tied with soft organza. The bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of pink roses tied with chocolate brown ribbon. The tables were decorated with centrepieces of gold candelabras filled with trailing ivy and soft pink and peach roses with the base surrounded by summer foliage and flowers.

First Dance The happy couple danced to Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen, sung by their band for the evening to get everyone in the party spirit.

A Moment To Remember Stephanie loved it as she walked up the aisle as well as the relaxed and fun atmosphere of the wedding and the speeches. She also enjoyed standing and watching the magnificent display of fireworks afterwards.

Honeymoon The newlyweds spent a relaxing week in their own beach villa at The One & Only resort in the Maldives with moonlit dinners on their private beach and their very own butler, followed by five luxurious nights at The One & Only Royal Mirage Residence and Spa in Dubai.

Any Advice Stephanie comments, ‘I worked very hard to make sure the timing was right on our wedding day. I made the ushers and bridesmaids aware of the running order of the day so that I didn’t have anything to worry about on the day!’ She also adds, ‘Prepare as much as you can beforehand so you can really enjoy the build up the week before the wedding. I made sure as much as possible was done prior so that I could enjoy getting pampered and booked myself in for a massage, manicure and pedicure.’
