REAL WEDDING Touch of Pink 2898 views

They Met Adam and Claire first met through 'venture scouts' - and love soon blossomed. It was during a wild camping trip in the beautiful Lake District that Adam popped the question to Claire!

Wedding Venue The couple immediately started trawling through the internet to find the venue for them and came across Dauntsey’s Manor House in West Lavington. They loved the beautiful building as well as its handy proximity to the church and low cost. The building also had significance as it was where Claire’s father went to school.

The Theme Claire and Adam didn’t choose a specific theme and focused on people enjoying themselves instead. The colour scheme was kept neutral with the main colours of white, silver and green and accents of pink. Pink grosgrain ribbon held the colours together, used from buttonholes to napkins!

What They Wore The bride looked elegant in a sleek and strapless full-length gown with a silk organza sash around the waist, made by Catherine Miller. She accessorized with shoes by Emmy and jewellery made by Kirsten Goss, which incorporated some of her grandmother’s jewellery.

The groom wore a morning suit with a dove grey waistcoat, hired from Austin Reed. A touch of pink was added with a bright pink tie, with their names and wedding date embroidered on the back. Adam wore a buttonhole of sprigs of rosemary tied with pink grosgrain ribbon.

Claire had three bridesmaids who wore classic, pink silk dresses also made by Catherine Miller, whilst the five ushers wore the same as the groom.

The Cake The couple chose two cakes for their wedding, which consisted of three square tiers directly on top of each other, decorated with pink grosgrain ribbon on each layer. The other cake was the same, but a chocolate version for the groom, all made by a family friend.

The Flowers The bride and bridesmaids carried simple bouquets of cream freesias. The church and reception were decorated with hydrangeas in glass cube vases along with pedestals with hydrangeas, eucalyptus and peony, all fitting with their white and green colour scheme. Finally the flowers were given the final touch with cream church candles around the reception and rosemary plants as table centres!

First Dance The newlyweds danced to ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ by Van Morrison, followed by music from their band ‘The Eskys’ and a DJ.

A Moment To Remember The happy couple loved it all and especially the fact that they had everyone they love together, creating an amazing atmosphere.

Honeymoon After their first night in a rental cottage, the couple headed off for a mini-moon in the Lake District. As they live in Texas in USA, they plan to honeymoon properly in Alaska this summer.

Any Advice? Claire recommends to ‘Give yourself plenty of time to make decisions’ and claims that she could not have lived without her excel spreadsheets in the lead-up to the big day.
