Julie & Stephen
19 April 2008
They Met Stephen and Julie first met whie working at a Toyota dealership in Crawley and got together at the office Christmas party in 2003. Three years later, after Champagne and New Year fireworks at Disneyland Paris, Stephen asked Julie for her hand in marriage.
Wedding Venue After booking their venue over a year in advance, they found out eight weeks before their wedding that they had to find a new one due to major building works! However, they fell in love with the Arora International Hotel, Gatwick with its modern looks fitting in perfectly with their contemporary colour scheme.
The Theme The couple chose deep emerald and lime greens to set the colour scheme with apple and pear scented candles on the tables, a green wooden rose for each place name and a large centrepiece of green roses and ivy. The couple also had a message tree where guests could hang a message, which were later mounted in a book with the photos!
What They Wore The bride wore an ivory Mori Lee dress from Proposals in Crawley. The dress had a crystal-encrusted bodice with a layered ball-gown skirt and a chapel length train accessorized with a crystal tiara, crystal sandals and handmade crystal jewellery.
The groom wore a cream Prince Edward suit with a mint cravat and a mint waist coat, all hired from Slaters Menswear. He also had a cala lily buttonhole with crystals and ivy.
Julie had her two sisters and Stephen’s niece as her bridesmaids with her sisters wearing Dessy gowns in spruce, emerald crystal bracelets and the same crystal sandals as Julie whilst Stephen’s niece wore an ivory dress from Next with matching shoes and bag.
The Cake A three-tiered fruit cake with white icing and lime green roses and petal had each tier separated by a glass vase filled with green rose petals.
The Flowers Julie carried a bouquet of cream cala lilies and lily of the valley with green foliage, ivy and crystals. The wedding party wore green rose buttonholes.
First Dance The newly married couple danced to A Moment Like This by Kelly Clarkson followed by Wifey by Next, chosen by Julie’s sister.
A Moment To Remember The couple thought that everything was perfect but loved it when they saw each other for the first time and when they said their vows to each other.
Honeymoon The happy couple spent five nights at the New York, New York hotel in Las Vegas followed by nine nights on the island of Maui in Hawaii at the Sherton Maui Resort.
Any Advice Julie recommends, ‘If you are making your own stationery and favours give yourself plenty of time, it really is very time consuming but is well worth the effort’ and Stephen advises, ‘If you are not happy about any of the details of your wedding, go with your gut instinct and change them while you can.’
