REAL WEDDING Military Chic 2610 views

They Met Samantha and Alex first met on a camp in Wales and started dating when they joined up to the same youth organization. Two years later they went away for a romantic break and Alex popped the question, just before dinner! The next day was spent looking for rings!

Wedding Venue They had always wanted to marry in Wells and as Samantha wanted a church wedding, finding the venue was easy.

The Theme The couple didn’t have a specific theme, but based the colour scheme on the colours in Alex’s RAF uniform, adding a touch of military chic to the wedding. There were blue finishing touches, although not much decoration was needed in the grand hall and church. The tables were decorated with mini bride and grooms which contained mints, doubling as place names, as well as kiddy boxes for the children.

What They Wore The bride wore an Alfred Angelo-inspired dress for the big day and had a short version for the evening celebrations. A touch of sparkle was added with her sunflower tiara and veil scattered with crystal droplets. Samantha kept her jewellery simple with a locket given by Alex as well as bracelet and earrings, topped with some white shoes. The groom wore his RAF uniform, setting the theme for the day with his white ceremonial belt and matching gloves. The groomsmen wore grey tails, hired from Young’s, along with unique canes from Africa. Samantha’s two bridesmaids had green dresses whilst the flower girl wore a Bhs dress with pink sparkly shoes and a miniature bouquet. The page boy wore tails too, and carried a monkey with the rings on while Alex’s sister, acting as best man, had a blue dress by Imprint.

The Cake The couple had a four-tiered creation with two tiers of fruitcake and two tiers of Madeira cake. It was decorated with plain white icing along with blue ribbon, flowers and butterflies, with each tier made by a different set of grandparents.

The Flowers Samantha chose the same flowers as at her mother’s wedding: gold roses and carnations, as a special surprise!

First Dance The happy couple danced to ‘Every Time We Touch’ by Cascada, with evening entertainment provided by a DJ who played a selection from old Jazz to modern day clubbing music.

A Moment To Remember Samantha’s most special moment was seeing the overwhelming amount of people in the church, with Alex and his sister standing at the end of the aisle.

Honeymoon After spending their first night at The Crown, the newlyweds jetted off the next day for a romantic trip to Lanzarote, staying in a private villa for two luxurious weeks.

Any Advice? Samantha advises to ‘Get people to help, and relax - easier said than done, but nobody will notice if something goes wrong.’ She add that she couldn’t have lived without ‘Weddingpath – I know it has been said before, but it is a must and lots of minds work better than one!’
