20 March 2008

They Met Sanchia and Ibinabo found each other over the internet on Christianmingle.com and first met at Big Ben in Westminster! Four months later, Ibinabo proposed one evening at his house.

Wedding Venue The couple chose the Ramada Encore Hotel as their wedding venue after it took Sanchia’s fancy at a wedding fair in East London. They loved the venue as it was stylish, the staff were friendly and the food was good.

The Theme Sanchia and Ibinabo chose lilac as their main colour scheme with lots of lilac and cream flowers on the tables. As a special touch, they had favours of personalised bookmarks with their choice of verse and design as well as their names and wedding date on!

What They Wore The bride wore a full length satin and tulle bridal gown, with a bodice decorated with scattered flowers and beads, from Dynasty in Finsbury Park. Sanchia also wore a veil and tiara, accessorized with a pearl necklace.
The groom wore a grey Edward suit from Youngs Hire with a pink and lilac embroidered waistcoat and matching cravat topped off lily grass as a buttonhole. with a white rose with loopedThe bride had three bridesmaids who all wore lilac dresses, fitting in with their lilac theme. The little flower girl wore white, while all the bridesmaids carried bouquets of lilac and cream faux flowers.

The Cake One of Sanchia’s colleagues at work made a three-tiered cake with white icing decorated with lilac ribbon and flowers. It looked stunning with two tiers of Caribbean fruit cake and one of Victoria sponge, along with a separate chocolate cake!

The Flowers The bride carried a small posy of white avalanche roses with lilac freesia and looped lily grass, hand-tied with bound sea grass. The flower girl held a small basket with a selection of cream and lilac flowers matching the bridesmaids' for the reception.

First Dance The happy couple danced to How Do I Live Without You by LeeAnn Rhimes followed by African Queen by Two Face with a DJ later playing a mixture of urban, pop and reggae music.

A Moment To Remember Sanchia and Ibinabo’s most memorable moment was when they said their vows together and when Sanchia arrived at the registry office. Although they loved it every minute of the big day, if they did it all again they'd probably opt for a weekend rather than in the week so more people could come.

Honeymoon The newly-married couple are planning to spend their honeymoon by jetting off this August to sunny Jamaica!

Any Advice Sanchia says, ‘Have high expectations but you will find that you can compromise on some things and still have a great wedding.’ Ibinabo adds, ‘Listen to your fiancée as she will probably know better about weddings than you do.’
