Aimee & Ian
8 September 2007

They Met Ian and Aimee met through work colleagues at a local gala dance and became 'an item' a few months later. Ian proposed on Aimee’s 25th birthday, whilst having breakfast in bed. Aimee couldn’t believe he was being serious - but finally accepted!

Wedding Venue Aimee knew even before she was engaged that she wanted to get married in the stunning Cairngorms mountains in Scotland and the couple decided it was the perfect venue for them! The couple both love Aviemore and the amazing views and location, as well as being very proud of being Scottish!

The Theme The couple used their love of Scotland as their main theme with white and green as the key colours and all of the male guests in kilts! They also indulged in a Highland buffet for the meal, a solo bagpipe player as well as a traditional Scottish band. They decorated the room with helium balloons with balloon lights inside them as well as giving each guest a lottery ticket as a favour, but they decided to let the views speak for themselves!

What They Wore The bride wore an elegant, white Maggie Sottero dress which she bought online from America. She also wore silver glittered stilettos from Quiz and bespoke jewellery and a tiara from Princess Poppy Tiaras. The groom wore his own full kilt outfit, with tartan of Gunn Ancient as well as a jacket and traditional brogues. He also wore a thistle buttonhole to compliment their Scottish theme. The bridesmaid who wore a hunter green dress from Forever Yours while the little flower girl had an ivory gown from Matalan, with a matching hunter green sash like the older bridesmaid.

The Cake The happy couple chose a simple yet gorgeous cake from Marks & Spencer, with three tiers of fruit cake, covered in white icing with green ribbon around each tier. They also decorated it with their own personalised cake topper!

The Flowers The bride carried a bouquet of white heather and Orion thistles with trailing ivy, bear grass and a few white feathers with the bridesmaid carrying a smaller version. The flower girl held a handmade wand with tartan ribbon, white feathers and artificial white heather. They decorated the room with wicker baskets of white heather, which they used as their table centres.

First Dance The couple danced for the first time as husband and wife to Purple Heather by Rod Stewart, performed by their Scottish band. The band provided foot-stomping music for the night with the evening ending to 500 Miles by the Proclaimers!

A Moment To Remember Aimee especially loved the reception and the amazing band as she didn’t stop dancing or smiling all night! However, she admits that if she would have done something differently, she would have arrived at the ceremony on time!

Any Advice Aimee advises, ‘Don’t leave lots of little jobs until the last few weeks before the wedding! If you can do them now, then do them! I left myself with so much to do in the last week that I ended up stressed, angry and in tears every day.’ She also comments that she couldn’t have lived without, ‘Weddingpath! This place was my salvation!’
