Fiona & Kieran
30 September 2006

They Met Fiona and Kieran met in a pub in Dublin, immediately hitting it and exchanging numbers and email addresses, to start what was to be a long distance love affair. Kieran later romantically proposed on the banks of Loch Lomond. They had been driving for ages, when Kieran asked Fiona to stop the car, got down on one knee by the shore line and proposed.

Wedding Venue A work colleague of Fiona’s suggested the Winnock Hotel as a venue. As soon as she saw the venue she loved it. Fiona thought it was beautiful and loved the friendly staff. It also fitted the wedding day budget.

The Theme The couple chose a colour scheme of gold, ivory and dark red with most of the flowers consisting of roses. Even the invitations were red roses shaped in a love heart as well as the order of service on ivory card with gold glitter and a single red rose on the front. The reception was decorated with ivory chair covers with alternating gold and dark red ribbons tied on to the backs of the chairs, complimenting their theme. The couple also provided favours of jelly beans wrapped in ivory organza, tied with dark red and gold ribbons.

What They Wore The bride looked gorgeous in a flowing strapless, white gown with a full skirt by Phil Collins from Capri Skies in Glasgow. The bride accessorized with ivory beaded shoes and a diamante tiara with the central part resembling the claddagh due to Kieran’s Irish background. She also wore an ivory veil scattered with diamante and red jewellery to fit in with the theme.

The groom hired his suit from Moss Bros and wore a black suit with an ivory waistcoat and dark red cravat. He also wore soft leather shoes from Next and a red rose as his buttonhole.

The couple decided to buck the trend and had all of the bridesmaids and attendants in different dresses. The bride had a maid of honour who wore dark red, as well as a best maid and bridesmaid who wore the same dress but in different colours, and a younger bridesmaid who wore gold.

The Cake The couple had a three-tiered cake, decorated with ivory icing with a dark red jewelled trim around the outside as well as their own personalised cake toppers, all made by a friend.

The Flowers Fiona carried a wonderful bouquet of red roses with ivory freesia, dotted with diamante, all tied with a gold ribbon. The bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of ivory roses with red berries also tied with gold ribbon. The couple decorated the reception with tall vases of red roses as table centres as well as using red roses for all of the buttonholes.

First Dance The happy couple danced for the first time as a married couple to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Andy Williams. The music continued later with a DJ friend putting together a mixture of old and new songs for the guests.

Moment To Remember Fiona loved it when they were saying their vows and looking into each other’s eyes as well as getting their pictures taken with their white Wellington boots on! Fiona also enjoyed walking down the aisle as well as her thirteen year old daughter reciting a poem during the ceremony, making it extra special.

Honeymoon After the couple spent their first night together in the Honeymoon suite at the Winnock Hotel they went on honeymoon to the romantic ‘The Cove’ in Kenya.

Any Advice Fiona advises to, ‘Keep calm! It all works out in the end.’ Whilst Kieran suggests to, ‘Just do as you are told, but try and keep a tight rein on the budget!’
