REAL WEDDING Fairytale Day 3107 views

Emma & Lee
22 August 2008

They Met Emma and Lee first met at a friend’s leaving party and immediately hit it off! Six months down the line, Lee had planned to propose to Emma on Christmas day, having already asked Emma’s father and colluded with her mother over the ring. However things didn’t go as planned and one day in November Lee got down on one knee in a porchway on their way home from work!

Wedding Venue Four years after getting engaged, the couple started to look for a venue. They decided on a civil ceremony and chanced upon a wedding fair at a hotel in Falmouth. Emma immediately fell in love with the venue with its spectacular gardens and characteristic old building, and they decided that it was the one for them.

The Theme The couple chose a fairytale theme with touches of lilac and pretty pink. Emma started collecting sparkly decorations and masses of table adornments in their theme colours of pink and lilac. The top table was decorated with large wine glasses filled with pink and lilac jewels and a rose bud candle in each. Emma handmade the favours with pink, lilac and ivory material holding lilac chocolate balls for ladies and football chocolates for men, finished with riboons.

What They Wore The bride wore a sweetheart two-piece gown with a champagne-coloured corset and ivory skirt. With beaded detailing on the corset, the full skirt had a long train, making Emma feel like a princess. To finish her outfit, whe wore a striking tiara and simple jewellery, to complement her red hair.

The groom wore a grey morning tail suit with a white shirt and lilac waistcoat and cravat. The best man and Emma’s father wore the same suits, all hired from Moss Bros in Truro.

The chief bridesmaid wore a floor-length lilac dress with a shawl, whilst the flower girls wore pink fairy outfits with wings and wands from Claire’s Accessories and knitted cardigans, made by Emma’s mother.

The Cake Emma’s mother made their three-tiered cake, decorated with white icing and simple piping. The finishing touches were added with flowers and pearls, as well as fairies, with a comical topper of a bride dragging a groom to the wedding!

The Flowers Emma carried a wand-style bouquet made up of pink, lilac and ivory roses interspersed with jewels and sea grass. The chief bridesmaid had the same bouquet but without the sea grass, whilst Lee wore a buttonhole of a single ivory rose with jewels.

First Dance The happy couple danced to ‘If You’re Not The One’ by Daniel Beddingfield, which was their special song!

A Moment To Remember Emma loved it when she first walked down the aisle with her father, seeing Lee at the end for the first time. She found it very emotional for the day to be finally taking place! Another memorable moment was when Lee had arranged for a swing singer friend to sing at the wedding as a surprise for Emma.

Honeymoon The newlyweds spent their first night in a beautiful apartment in the hotel, complete with large bathroom and Jacuzzi! They decided against a honeymoon and instead put their money towards double glazing for their new house!

Any Advice? Emma advises, ‘Don’t be stupid, a wedding doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I had everything I wanted and more for £3000, so be realistic.’ She also suggests, ‘Please yourselves and no-one else, at the end of the day it is your day, so enjoy it!’
