Debbie & Paul
2 June 2008

They Met
Deborah and Paul met in a bar six years ago. Then one evening in January 2006, Paul proposed in their favourite restaurant in Huddersfield. Poor Paul had been carrying the ring around in his pocket for two weeks, waiting for the perfect moment!

Wedding Venue
Deborah and Paul began looking for their venue as soon as they got engaged as they knew that they wanted to get married abroad. They loved the idea of a relaxed and informal wedding and searched the National Wedding Show where they discovered Cyprus. They fell in love with the Nissi Beach venue in Cyprus and immediately knew it was the place for them with the ceremony in a gazebo by the sea.

The Theme
The couple set the theme around Stargazer lilies and orchids with the bridesmaid dresses matching the colour of the flowers. There was little decoration needed with the breathtaking setting, right on the beach, but the tables were decorated in white linen with white candles and pretty pink flower petals. There was no seating plan apart from the top table being reserved and the couple provided favours for the children of practical jokes for the boys, lip glosses and pens for the girls and teddies for the babies.

What They Wore
The bride looked stunning in a white two-piece Sincerity dress from Pronuptia with a bodice and full skirt. She wore diamante-encrusted stilettos from Dune as well as an elegant tiara from Princess Poppy Tiaras with her jewellery borrowed from her best friend.

The groom wore a simple white linen shirt and trousers, from Next, along with sandals, perfect for the beach wedding. The bride had four adult bridesmaids who all wore bright pink prom dresses from Warehouse, matching their colour scheme, along with pink shoes and handmade orchid hair clips. The junior bridesmaid wore an ivory prom dress from Debenhams with ivory ballet pumps with the flower girl wearing a white organza dress from Special Occasions. They also had six pageboys who came in useful, lifting up Deborah’s large skirt walking to the reception, who all wore white outfits from Next.

The Cake
The couple chose a two-tiered cake with one layer of chocolate sponge and the other of vanilla, decorated with white icing and a Stargazer lily and orchid flower spray on top. The cake was made by an RAF chef from a nearby barracks, home to Deborah’s brother in law.
The Flowers

Deborah carried a wonderful bouquet of silk Stargazer lilies and orchids, made by a colleague at work. The junior bridesmaid carried silk stargazer lilies whilst the flower girl held a bridesmaid teddy on a pink ribbon.

First Dance

The happy couple danced to You’re In My Heart by Rod Stewart, followed by a DJ for the rest of the evening, along with a special dance performed by the junior bridesmaid and a page boy which received a standing ovation!

A Moment To Remember
Deborah’s favourite moment was walking up the aisle and seeing Paul’s face for the first time, as well as walking out to a cascade of confetti, describing it as the happiest moment of her life.

Any Advice

Deborah advises to, ‘Be organised and it’s never too early to start planning as the last six months fly by so fast.’ Also commenting that she loved the, ‘WeddingPath forums – my wedding wouldn’t have been the same without the advice from all the girls on there.’ Whilst Paul suggests, ‘Look forward to the day, it is a million times better than you think it will be – I thought it would be all about the bride but I had the best day of my life.’
