Rebecca & Peter
29 March 2008

They Met Rebecca and Peter were at secondary school together and shared their first kiss in a tent during Duke of Edinburgh awards. They finally got together, after Peter’s perseverance, when they were at university. Peter called one day out of the blue. Three weeks later he moved in with her and her family until they bought their house together three years later. Peter finally proposed on his birthday the following October!

Wedding Venue Rebecca and Peter started to look for their venue immediately. Their first choice was unfortunately put up for sale, but when the couple found Albrighton Hall Hotel in Shrewsbury instead, they were delighted. The couple were won over by the stunning grounds, the pretty wedding breakfast room and the great bedrooms for all of their guests!

The Theme The couple chose ivory, brown and sage as their colour theme, wanting it to be simple, classy and elegant. They decorated the reception with tea lights and vases of cream roses set on round mirror tiles. Each guest had their own menu choices with an explanation of the wine, which the couple had travelled around France to choose. They named their tables after deceased family loved ones to remember them at their wedding.

What They Wore The bride looked gorgeous in Veronique by Hollywood Dreams, a fairytale gown with a fingertip veil dotted with Swarovski crystals. Her headdress and custom made jewellery were also made with Swarovski crystals and to finish her outfit she wore ivory heels from Rainbow Club.

The groom wore a brown Prince Edward suit with an ivory waistcoat, hired from Stephen Allen in Stourbridge. He also wore a sage cravat and handkerchief and a buttonhole of a single cream rose.

Rebecca had two bridesmaids who wore sage coloured Alfred Sung two-pieces and a pageboy who wore a brown corduroy suit with braces and a bow tie to match the bridesmaids' dresses.

The Cake Rebecca and Peter chose an elegant four-tiered cake, made by The Cake Lady with the bottom tier of fruit, then chocolate, then sponge and coffee on top as a surprise for Peter. They loved it so much that they even took it on honeymoon!

The Flowers Rebecca carried a simple bouquet of cream roses with rosemary, the bridesmaids carrying smaller versions. There were also two box trees with cream roses at the entrance to the church as well as three low troughs of cream roses on the top table at the reception.

First Dance The newlyweds danced away to So Are You To Me by Eastmountain South followed by So Close by Jon McLaughlin from the film ‘Enchanted’.

A Moment To Remember Rebecca loved it when she found out that her sister had organised doves to be released as they came out from church, making it extra special, as well as the greeting line which awaited them - she had never had so many compliments before!

Any Advice Rebecca advises, ‘Don’t stress about the little things. On the day you won’t notice anything that’s not perfect.’ Peter on the other hand suggests, ‘Remember that everyone there is rooting for you so don’t panic about your speech.’
