FASHION Dress Mess 9174 views

Choosing your wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of planning the wedding. So why not make the most of your dress and go for an after the big day 'mess the dress' session. If you are not too 'messy' it can always go to the cleaners afterwards!

'Trash the dress' is so out of tune with the economic flavour of the moment that US brides are turning to a less frivolous version and going for a 'mess the dress' session instead. Wedding Consultant, Candice Benson, Founder of The Finishing Touch, Wedding & Event Planning, based in New Jersey says, “Brides are increasingly looking for ways to stay traditional but add elements of youth and personality to their weddings. A Mess the Dress session is a perfect way to bring that out.” Although the very dramatic ‘trashing’ of the dress, which can sometimes end in the dress being burned, gets more widely recorded, a lot more brides are participating in Mess the Dress, posing where they are likely to get a bit dirty or perhaps wet. Some photographers can even take underwater shots of couples, which have an amazing artistic effect.

Here in the UK, photographer Chanelle Segerius says: 'the dresses generally survive the experience and are absolutely fine after a dry clean. The point of these shoots is not to go out and destroy the dress as such. Here in the UK we call our sessions "Shoot The Dress" because of the fashion style element.' The shoot can be done the day after - or even a few months after - the wedding, making the most of wearing your wedding dress!
