You’ve been having regular trims and treatments at the salon ready for the big day, but how do you keep your locks looking fabulous for your honeymoon? We’ve got top tips from New York hair stylist Paul Labrecque.

• “If you’re honeymooning in the tropics, prepare your hair before you leave with an intensive treatment that will help keep its vitality and shine while you’re away.” "If you are going to be in the sun, use Daily Moisture Mud Instant Repair Conditioner (£18) a few days before you go,” he says. “Once applied, wrap your hair in a steaming towel to add lustre."

• Paul also advises you save colouring and cutting till you return home. “However if don't want to leave looking anything but your best, make sure you use a colour shampoo and conditioner while you’re there,” he says.

• Once you’ve reached your resort, Paul recommends using Restorative Hair & Scalp Treatment, £25. “Slick this lemongrass oil into your hair and pull it back into a ponytail to protect your hair and give it an intense hot oil treatment.”

• For long-haired ladies, Paul says a ponytail is the only way to go on honeymoon. “By day they are functional and leave you open to all beach activities, by night they are transformed into sophisticated style that will make any girl stand out.”

• And once the honeymoon’s over, your memories won’t fade but your glossy locks might have “so make sure you get your ends trimmed right away to keep it in top condition,” advises Paul.
