Ways to enhance your weddingpath
| - Thu 14 Feb 2008 | 7239 views - 1 comment |
Mixing practicality and fun, your personal weddingpath is a hub that brings together all the details of your wedding, enabling you to build momentum during the run-up, and giving guests an idea of what to expect. Once you’ve created your initial pages, why not try the following:
Find out who your wedding twins are
Once you’ve chosen your date, your Profile page reveals which other WeddingPathers plan to tie the knot on that same special day! To find out, make sure you’re logged in to WeddingPath, then, from the pink menu bar, choose My Links, then My Profile. Any wedding twins you have are noted in the bottom left of the page.
Visit the WeddingPath discussion forums
Pop into the friendliest wedding forum on the web to seek – and give – advice and support on all things wedding-related… and some other topics besides! You’ll find there’s a real community spirit here, and whatever you have to say, there are other WeddingPathers who are interested, so don’t be shy.
Check out some great news and features
WeddingPath’s NewsWire has load of wedding news from useful wedding-planning hints to a look at who is the latest celeb to tie the knot, it’s all here! If you have an insatiable appetite for wedding-related news and articles, be sure to check back regularly.
Start your WeddingPath blog
A blog – or weblog – is a unique online journal, and, as a WeddingPather, you get one hosted totally free! Accessible via your Profile page, it’s the perfect way to express your thoughts and feelings. By combining your own words with photos and fun smilies, you can document all the ups and downs of your wedding planning for others to see and you to look back on after the big event. Warning: blogging can be addictive!
Add an RSVP page
WeddingPath’s easy-to-use RSVP facility enables you to collect all your guests’ RSVPs online and be notified by email as they reply! For more information on setting up your RSVP page click here.
Add a YouTube video to your personal weddingpath
It’s so quick and easy to do. Your choice of vid could be anything from a comedy wedding dance to a song by your favourite band – whatever you can find on YouTube that you think your guests will enjoy. And, of course, once you’re married, you can upload your wedding vid to YouTube and link to that from your weddingpath instead.
Give guests a sneak previewYour guests will enjoy your wedding more if they have had a sense of the planning that has gone into it. Why not use your weddingpath to give them an idea of the menu they’ll be eating, the readings they’ll be hearing or the music they’ll be dancing to? Just add a new page to your site and label it accordingly.
Add some PhotoShare pages
Thanks to WeddingPath’s fantastic PhotoShare feature, your friends and family can help you build up a comprehensive set of images from your hen, stag and wedding day. Guests upload all their images to one place – your weddingpath. You won’t believe how easy it is to do! Log in, select the Edit My Site page from the pink menu bar, and all should be clear.
Add a WeddingMap

A WeddingMap gives your guests the ability to find accommodation near your ceremony or reception, the weather where you are getting married and the driving directions either to the venue or where your guests are staying. Even better, it’s all show out on a map for your guests as well. The WeddingMap aims to make your life easier for both you and your guests.
Include a wedding report
Once your wedding is over, there’s no better way to relive it than by writing your own report giving all the details of how the day unfolded and the emotions you felt. This report makes the perfect addition to your weddingpath, completing the cycle from preparation through to newly-married life!
There are so many other things that you can do with your WeddingPath page. To find out more information on how to use these features click on the Site help section and get a flavour of what else you can do with your own personal wedding website.

Your WeddingMap Page
| - Fri 12 Oct 2007 | 44014 views - comments are closed. |

Planning to get married in the UK (currently only UK places supported)? If so, an exciting new WeddingPath feature will make life so much easier for you and your guests. In one beautifully designed page, this great new addition to your personal weddingpath provides invaluable details of your big day.
What your WeddingMap Page includes:
- Your personalised map. The all-important address(es) of your ceremony and reception venue(s), plus a high-quality map plotting the location(s)!
- Driving directions. Clearly mapped directions show how guests – or the bride and groom – can get from the postcode of their choice to the wedding venue(s). Now there’s no excuse for getting lost!
- Weather forecast. WeddingPath’s instant sunshine generator is still a work in progress, but in the meantime you and your guests can keep an eye on the weather conditions in your chosen location.
- Accommodation finder. No more last-minute accommodation worries for your guests – the WeddingMap Page includes a handy list of currently available rooms close to your venue. Guests even get to see the hotels’ locations plotted on your WeddingMap! Once they’ve made their choice, all it takes is a few clicks and the room is booked!
How to create your WeddingMap Page:
1.) Log in to WeddingPath and go to Edit My Site as usual.
2.) Edit your Wedding Details page and/or your Reception Details page. If you supply a valid UK postcode for either (or both) of these pages, a WeddingMap will automatically be created for you. Guests can now access this new page from your personal weddingpath (it will be shown in the left-hand menu along with the links to your other pages).
Troubleshooting:
1.) Ensure you have entered a valid main wedding date on your personal weddingpath. For help, see http://news.weddingpath.com/newsdetail/30/216/
2.) Ensure that your Wedding Details and/or Reception Details pages(s) include a valid UK postcode (and that these pages are not hidden). Your WeddingMap Page will not be visible otherwise.

Using LoveIt
| - Tue 28 Jun 2005 | 1471 views - comments are closed. |

What is LoveIt?
- LoveIt is a striking way to see which websites people are finding the most useful or exciting while planning their weddings.
- People vote for sites using a special LoveIt Bookmark that's quick and easy to download. Then, when they are on a website they like (e.g. onewedding.co.uk), they just click on the LoveIt Bookmark to cast their vote - and they are not even taken away from that webpage! Sounds like magic? Why not try it?
- Using the LoveIt Bookmark is a great way of expressing your appreciation of websites that have helped you during your wedding planning, and contributes to the WeddingPath community's view of what's hot on the web - IT'S REALLY THAT SIMPLE!
How Does It Work?
1. First go to http://loveit.weddingpath.co.uk/ and create the LoveIt Bookmark - do this by right-clicking your mouse button over the LoveIt link, and selecting "Add To Favourites" on the menu which appears.

You may be warned of potential security issues (see image below). This is simply because the link contains a small javascript to enable it to work. It is safe to hit Yes.

2. Now, when you find yourself on a web page which you would like other WeddingPath members to know about, just choose the bookmark from your list of favourites.
3. A small pink box will appear on your current webpage (as if by magic!) and you will be asked to enter your WEDDINGPATH username and password, and then to vote for the page (you can specify a category for your vote if you like).
4. A few minutes later (about 5 mins) you will see that the big link cloud at http://loveit.weddingpath.co.uk/ now contains your voted link. The more people who vote for the same page, the bigger that link will appear!

Common Questions
- Why should I use this? If you'd like to know what sites other members are fond of, then you need to do your bit too. We are a community-based site, allowing you to benefit from the collaboration of many thousands of members (just like, say, Wikipedia).
- Is LoveIt safe? Yes! The javascript we use tells us ONLY the information for your vote to be sent to WeddingPath.
- But you are asking me for a password! It's NOT, NOT, NOT the password for any site other than WeddingPath - we know this password already, and just use it to make sure you are who you say you are!
- Will it snoop on the other sites I am visiting? No - never! We can only ever receive information when you click on the LoveIt Bookmark to vote for a site.

Wedding Party page problems
| - Sat 25 Jun 2005 | 1398 views - comments are closed. |
Q. I have created a wedding party page but can't seem to get the arrows to show up properly so that people can go from one photo to the next.
A. First create your wedding party page by adding another page.
Now ensure that all the photos you want to be shown are uploaded - do this as the first step (though you can always add more photos later) - just upload each photo, one at a time, hitting the upload button after choosing each photo.

If you cannot get the arrows to display properly (allowing you to go from one photo to the next) then PLEASE READ the next bit carefully as this is where your problem lies!

For a photo to bre shown, you MUST choose an image and set at least the Photo title for that photo (you can optionally set a description too).
The WeddingPath site will show the page starting at the photo 1 - if the next photo (photo 2) has a selecetd image and a photo title, then an arrow will appear when viewing the page as a guest. That arrow will take you to the next photo. This keeps on going until the next photo has no selected image.
It does not matter if you select images for photos further down the sequence - the site will stop just before the first 'empty' photo.
If you are having problems with the arrows showing properly, it's because the site has 'stopped' at an earlier photo - just make sure taht all photos in between have valid images selected, and valid photo titles.

How to set the date countdown
| - Mon 13 Jun 2005 | 1570 views - comments are closed. |
Q. The small days to go countdown shown on my site is wrong!
1. Go to the "Edit Site" page.
2. Select the main details link:

3. Set the countdown in the boxes below

As some folks have their wedding and reception do's on different dates (e.g. for weddings abroad), this allows you to set the countdown for one date, then the next.
