Just to clarify, compulsory deployments only occur when someone , TA that is, has previously VOLUNTEERED to be put forward for a deployment. When the compulsory deployments are put into place, only those that have previously volunteered are considered and then are deemed as 'compulsory' deployees.
If you want the exact terminology, I could bore for days on it.

Thanks for the info. Kate says he's been to Iraq before so he must have volunteered at some point and now he's been called up again so from what you're saying he has to go? I'm not sure why it matters if he's choosing to go or not though, she's just upset he's going.
