It really is up to you - we sent ours out with our christmas cards, and we got married the following July so that was 7months in advance,

some did, some presumed we knew they were coming, and 1 bloke I bugged and bugged and bugged until 3 weeks before and said to him sorry but we can't delay it any longer I'l out you down as not comming, I was sat watching harry potter in the cinema the night before the wedding, when I recieve a text *by the way I'm coming tommorow for the whole day* so I had to be very polite in telling him he's more than welcome to come but theres no food.
and then he had the audacity to bring along his girlfriend (now fiancee) who he knows I cannot stand to be in the same room as her!! but would explain why he didn't ask........
Any way sorry ramble there why not send out Save the Dates (We did magnets) it got some excitment out of me, got people talking, and then there were no reasons for I've booked a holiday that week, etc etc

I don't think it matters how early you send them out, some people will respond straight away and some you will have to nag, can't odds it really

RSVP ing is a nightmare business, u will need to chase people up because they are rubbish!!
Also witrh your evening, if yu need to have your final numbers to the venue 6 weeks before the wedding, get your rsvps for the evening do 8 weeks before the wedding to give u two weeks to chase stragglers
Argh!! Why aren't these things more straight forward

Traditionally wedding invitations are sent out 6 weeks before the wedding. However, these days with many couples needing to know numbers in advance and more destination weddings it's more common for them to be sent earlier
If the excitement is really getting to you then consider save the dates too

We are sending our invites out on 20th March for our Wedding on 10th July.
If I were you, I would leave sending the invites until nearer the time, because if you send them out now people might get them and think 'Oh, that's ages away, I'll pop this in the drawer until nearer the time', then forget all about it! I definately agree that save the dates is the way to go. x

Hey Jules, if I got you some pens from work they would fit in, I work in a bookies lol.
Im not wasting money on invites as those that are coming to Gretna know they are going, so I have only got invites for our after party.
