Me and H2B are having a civil ceremony. I was brought up Catholic, but I don't go to church as much as I should, and felt that getting married in church would be hypocritical. H2B not religious in the slightest!

It's a personal choice, but I do think a civil ceremony is the better option if you aren't religious.

I love the fact that we have everything under one roof, we don't have the added cost of cars to ferry us from the church to the reception, and if it rains, I can stay inside the hotel to get to the ceremony Rolls eyes

If you're only thinking of a civil ceremony because of it all being under one roof, then I can tell you there are places where you can have a religious ceremony at the venue! My venue is a gorgous mansion house on an estate with a chapel and I have heard of other places ths same too. If you're on a budget then I wouldn't suggest the place I'm having (Wroxall Abbey Estate) because while the church fees are £300 for the ceremony, organist and one marriage certificate, we have to pay the estate for the hire of the chapel and that is an astronmical cost. However, there are plenty of venues cloe to churches or like mine with their own chapels.

we decided on a civil ceremony as we felt we didnt want a church wedding neither of us are great believers anymore plus hubby has been married before and we wanted the day to be everything we wanted dont think we would have been comfortable in church and thought we would be hypocritical too we just wanted a intimate no fuss wedding with everything we wanted and thats what we got
