Fiancee really wants the downstairs function room for our reception, but i know we ll either end up with that one of upstairs just dont want pokey one at the back!!!
Maybe you could clear up a question we have? Disco for evening??? How does this work as i ve read other brides can join it etc... Do we book it with The Mill if we change our minds?

Hiyaaaaaa
Quite near but not exactly the same place, we're getting married in Anvil Hall Gretna on 1st August this year, weve been up to have a look and the whole place is lovely.
We did look in to the Mill Forge tho, looks like a lovely place. Their chapel looks gorgeous x

Hi Im getting married in gretna too on 18th July but we are having our wedding in the registry office then having photos at the anvil. We are staying in a lovely small hotel in Locherbie which is just outside gretna and having our meal there. Will have around 35 guests, then off to cuba for 2 weeks and coming back for a large reception for all friends and family.

I was also thinking about an ipod for music after the meal but the bar manager can arrange a DJ for £150 so think we will go for that and save anyone having to worry about music during the evening.

The Mill Forge is lovely!

I'm getting married at The Mill Forge on 6 July 2009. Everything was going to plan until I phoned the registrar office today to find that although I had sent all the documents and cheque on a week ago, they decided to up the price and not bother to tell me! The price went up on 1st April. Although I haven't got much to pay, but talking about getting stressed. Other than that I'm getting really excited as its just gone 11 weeks until the big day. Then we are off to dubai the day after for 11 days for the honeymoon. :-)

Good luck to anyone who is getting married in gretna this year. All the best.

Hi Jules

If you are having a registrar then they take the documents with them when they come to the venue, its only if you are having a minister you have to pick the papers up.

Can I give you some advice? See when you put your marrige notices in with your birth certificates to gretna registration office, I would ask them about sending them back recorded delivery as I ask them to do this but they sent ours back 2nd class franked mail on 17th April and we have never received them. I have spoken to them on a number of occasions and they have said they don't do recorded delivery unless we pay for it. However, they have issued new birth certificates, but one particular male has a 'I don't give a damn attitude at the registration office'. Sweary

Other than that I'm really looking forward to the big day. Not long now 7 weeks. Ordered the wedding rings today.

This will be my first time to Dubai, looking forward to getting some heat and Sun cos as you know being from Aberdeen thats something we don't get a lot of Big Grin

Claire x
