The night before my friends and some family from Germany had booked into the hotel, so we went to the bar and had a drink and a chat with them, but because I knew it was going to be a long day we only had one drink and then went home. James went to his dads house and I spent the night with my sister, her husband (one of our ushers) and my dad. I slept quite well, but woke up at 6.30am and was wide awake. My sister was in the same room with me, so I made her get up and make me a cup of tea and we sat in bed chatting till it was time to get up at 8am. James had left a card on my bedside table which I opened and inside was a letter that hed written to me, which said how much he loved me. Half way through it said open the top drawer in the bedside table and open whats inside. There was a case with beautiful pearl and diamond earrings, which I had to try straight away of course! I wore them all day and they went really well with my dress.
I had a shower and then at 8.30am the hairdresser arrived and dried my hair and put it up in rollers, which had everyone in laughing fits as they had never seen me like that before. Then she did my sisters hair (my maid of honour), which took ages as the hair was so thick, but it looked gorgeous when it was done. Halfway through my other bridesmaid arrived and she then got her hair done similar to my sisters. We had some bubbly and/or bucks fizz and I was really calm, which worried me a bit, but somehow everything was so calm and quiet there was no need to get nervous.
Sorry, off to get a cup of tea sorry about the long post, and i am not even finished yet...

In the middle of all this James phoned me to have a quick chat, which was lovely and unexpected. Not sure if this is against tradition but who cares.
At 12 our photographer arrived and took shots of our bouquets, my dress and shoes etc. I got changed into my dress and she took some photos with me and my dad, my BMs and my usher. The second usher arrived at 12.15 to pick up the first one to go to the church and we took some more photos. The ushers left and we had loads of time to sit around and wait that was the bit that made me a little bit nervous because I am terrible with sitting around not doing anything. The photographer left at 12.40pm and then before we knew it my friend turned up to collect the BMs then the wedding car arrived. We hadnt told anyone what car we were having and I think the surprise was successful. Because James is such an Elvis fan we had a 1958 Cadillac, which was gorgeous. As we were so early but I wanted to leave, the driver drove really really slowly all the way to the church and all the pedestrians looked in and waved which was lovely. We met a tractor on the way and nearly got stuck on the country road trying to pass it. Outside the church we took more photos with the car, my dad and the BMs and then walked up. After raining all morning the sun came out. The vicar was outside the entrance directing us where to stand etc and we lined up. I could see some heads in the church and got quite excited. The music started and we were off, although not quite straight away as my sister stood on my train
The service was lovely but flew by. We said our vows and everything went well. That was my biggest fear, getting the words wrong. We signed the register and then we were already on our way out. The queue of congratulations seemed to go on forever, it was so nice seeing everyone dressed up and really happy. We did the confetti shot which had me in fits of laughter because it was everywhere and we then went to the lawn to have photos taken with everyone. At the end of that everyone went to the hotel and we did some shots by ourselves and then got in the car to drive to the reception. The driver even had some Elvis music for James. When we got to the reception everyone was there with their drinks looking and smiling at us and then we got our champagne and could finally chat to some people. We sat down for dinner and the food tasted delicious but I couldnt even manage half of it, which was a bit annoying. After dinner we cut the cake to what seemed like a million flashes from cameras. Then we had to do a champagne fountain thing which I found a bit tacky, but the photos look quite nice and I suppose on the day you just have to go with everything. We said back down and the speeches were announced. My dad only spoke very shortly because he didnt want to do a whole speech with my mum only passing away 3 weeks earlier. It was still very sweet of him. Then James got up and did his. It was a brilliant speech, with lots of laughs and lots of tears. When he spoke about my mum and his mum he had to stop because he was crying, which was so moving. I think everyone had shed a tear by then. But then he went on and it was beautiful and also very very funny. The best mans speech was very good too and afterwards we toasted to both mums.
god sorry, this is going on for ages...

James speech also was half in German, which was such a surprise! He got one of my friends to help him with sections.
We then had organised a quiz, where people had to answer questions in teams so that they go to know each other. The room was turned round and we had some quick photos done outside while they were doing this. Then the evening guests arrived and we stood at the entrance to say hello to everyone. The band set up and the buffet was ready to go when there was another surprise. My sister and some friends had organised a game, which is a tradition in Germany. It was a version of musical chairs, where the person losing out on a chair got a task to do for me and James next year, such as cleaning the house, cutting the lawn, cooking us dinner etc. these tasks were put into a calendar for next year so there is something happening each month. This delayed things a little bit, but it was loads of fun watching everyone. The buffet was opened (I never had any of it, but everyone said it was good) and then we had our first dance to The Wonder of You. The band started playing and from then on I was on the dancefloor the whole night! They were absolutely brilliant and loads of people were up and dancing. About 11pm James went to the band and they announced a surprise for me and there he was singing for me accompanied by the band Komm Gib mir Deine Hand which is the German version of I wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles. It was amazing.
At 1pm the bar closed and the music stopped, which was such a shame. Everyone said goodbye to us and we were the last ones standing on the dancefloor with tables being put away around us. We couldnt believe that that was it. But in hindsight it was quite good and when we got to our suite we were so tired we went to bed straight away.
We had breakfast with everyone in the morning and then went home in two cars with all our presents, cards and leftover table decs. In the afternoon close family and friends met up at James dad where we had drinks and food in the garden which was lovely. My sister had a few more surprises that night too, one of which was a Chinese lantern that we let go over the fields, after people had written their wishes on it for us.
SORRY to bore you with this long post I have put some photos up in the wedding photoshare section and will try to add some more soon. Thanks for reading! I was actually more nervous now thinking about it and writing it down than I was on the day, it was nice to relive it all. Thanks for reading and all your support and help in the run up to the wedding.
