Hi girls, my apologies for never being on lately. I hope all the weddings I missed went wonderfully! We just got back to California at the beginning of the week after our honeymoon so it's all been a bit hectic since the wedding. I can honestly say it was the best day of my life! So here's my wedding report and some photos! The morning of the weddingTo start I should tell you that we ended up having a crazy 3 day wedding! It started on the Wednesday when we'd organised a dinner for all our friends and continued on to the Rehearsal Dinner on Thursday for my family and all our American guests so to be honest I wasn't feeling too nervous until I tried to go to sleep on Thursday night! I was staying at the hotel with two of my bridesmaids and I woke up at 7.30 with my heart thumping. I looked out the window and it was an absolutely beautiful morning-hurrah! We went for breakfast and I could hardly eat I felt so sick, luckily once we got going and headed to the hairdressers the action calmed me down a lot! Once we got back from the hairdressers my Mum told me that the florist had been so I ran downstairs to look at everything. I was so glad I did because I'd never have remembered it properly otherwise and it looked just beautiful...we had all white flowers. Then to speed along we all had our make-up done and before I knew it I was in my dress having my photographs taken! Then my Dad came up to collect me and he told us all 'Nae lang faces' to stop us crying but then whispered in my ear that he loved me and nearly set me off! Then we headed down to the Pavillion for my entrance....

We had a string quartet and I'd chosen Falling Slowlyfrom the movie 'Once' to walk up the aisle to and apparently it started quite a few people crying!
The ceremony was so beautiful and Chris actually cried which I never thought he'd do...he never cries! But there you go. The only bad bit was how hot it was-I was absolutely roasting!! There was also a tiny slip-up with the string quartet as I'd e-mailed them a few days before the wedding to ask them to play 'All you need is love' for the recessional but they hadn't got it so there was a moment of confusion before they played 'Falling Slowly' again...aah well, these things happen and it really didn't matter.
We were piped outside once we exited the pavillion and then we had a wee break to have some champagne and talk to our guests.

Then the photos began! Organising the group ones was crazy and I know we forgot loads but my favourite part was when Chris and I got to go away with just the photographer. I can't wait to see the official photographs. We then had a short break to sort ourselves out before the receiving line. It was fantastic to speak to everyone individually but it took much longer than expected so we did end up running a little bit behind. Then the top table were piped in and Chris and I followed. I then discharged the piper with a glass of whisky. It was really fun and all our American guests loved it! We had my Dad's, Chris's and the Best Man's speeches all before dinner and they were all fantastic. Chris was obsessed with superman when he was little and wore a cape all the time so my Dad had a cape for him and told him he had a job to do in looking after me-it was very cute! Then at last we could eat After the meal two of my best friends and bridesmaids gave a beautiful speech which (amazingly!) for the first time in the day had me in tears. I'd said the first time Chris had to leave that I realised if we stayed together I'd always have to be saying goodbye to someone and they put this in their speech which just made me howl! After this came the second little glitch, because of the receiving line taking so long the evening guests had started to arrive and we were way behind so we didn't have time to cut the cake!

After greeting our evening guests and having a little while to relax the ballroom had been cleared and the band had set up so it was time for our first dance! As most of you know we'd taken dance classes but I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to do it in my dress or that I'd trip up! However we decided just to go for it and I'm so glad we did. We danced to Ben Harper's 'Waiting on an Angel' and the response we got was amazing-everyone loved it. I'd totally recommend dance classes! I have to say that the dancing didn't stop there...we'd hired a modern ceilidh band and despite my long train and heavy dress I couldn't help joining in! The band were amazing and jammed modern songs into the ceilidh music, my favourite being the last 12 minute (yes that's TWELVE minute) version of Strip the Willows where they jammed in 'Seven Nation Army'...it was fantastic! The night ended in traditional Scottish fashion with everyone in a circle and my family in the middle to Auld Lang Syne and Loch Lomond...when everyone was running in towards us I had tears running down my face...it was the most emotional experience of my life having everyone I loved most around me. Thanks for reading! xxx
