Sorry to hear of your bad experiences. I was really lucky, had my first appointment in Pronuptia, central London and brought the first dress I tried on. The lady who helped me was brilliant, she couldn't do enough. She was running around getting shoes, veils and dresses. Really felt like a princess. I knew as soon as I tried on my dress it was the one. Tried on another four - which were all gorgeous but my heart belonged to the first one. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Good luck with finding the one ladies. Big Grin

i didn't have any terrible experiences, the reason i chose my shop (which was simplicity in nottingham) was because the assistant was honest. i think too many saleswomen in bridal shops think that you want to be told you look beautiful/like a princess in EVERY dress and I don't think that is actually helpful.

I remember one shop where there was a larger lady trying on a dress and it was so unflattering, it made her look loads larger than she actualy was. They had this corset and they had pulled it in really tight, when she looked down she obviously saw a small waist but from the back it looked awful, all her back was spilling out over the top and all these women were fawning over her ooohing and ahhhing. I just thought if that was me i would rather they be honest with me and say it's not suited to my figure and find something else which flatters my shape better.

The shop where i bought my dress i tried all sorts of styles as i didn't really know what i wanted and the lady was very honest with me - my worst feature is terrible saddlebags and when i tried straight fitting or slinky style dresses she very kindly told me that it made them look more prominent. I was really glad she was honest and didn't say it looked wonderful when it was wrong for my shape.

I found my dress in the first shop - 3rd dress I tried on.

I turned up without an appointment, but the lady welcomed us in and went through all the different kinds of dresses she had in the shop - asked me what I wanted or didn't want and picked out a selection that matched my criteria. She helped me into the dresses, fastened me up, gave me advice and her honest opinion on what she thought I looked like in them.

When I found 'the one' she gave me a veil and a tiara to put on and let me stare in the mirror for what must have been half an hour. She was so patient and honest and I was happy to give her my business!!
