Hi everyone

The husband and I are going to New York in April, we're really excited because we've always wanted to go, anyone got any tips?

Thanks

Hi!
OMG, new york is amazing! Me and my fiance went in october for 5 days and absolutely loved it!So jealous, i wana go back now!
My main tip would be to plan what u wana do cos theres so much to see, plus while we were there, we also found lots of addition things to do that we hadnt thought of.
Main things we did was :
-empire state building (book tickets b4 hand cos the queues are alot shorter. i booked on the official website and it saved me an extra hour wait)
-staten island ferry, battery park and ground zero (all close together and can be done within 1/2 a day)
-rockafeller centre (theres a little shop in there where u can get ur pic taken on the friends set)
- central park (carriage ride -go to the main point outside the plaza and it works out around 25pounds)
- i arranged a helicopter ride cos it was my fiance's bday (its usually around 90 pounds each but i booked on net b4 with keith prowse attractions and got two for 90!)
-natural history museum (have to go if uve watched friends or night at the museum)
- times square (we stayed near times square so were lucky to see it in the day and night which is great)
- and of course shopping! Macys, bloomingdales and tiffanys u just have to visit!
Ohh, also a not very well known tip - in times square, theres a small camera shop, next to TGI fridays - if u stand outside, theres a very small camera with 'earth cam' on the side . If ur family go on to the net on the earth cam website, theyll be able to see u live!
Not many people know about it so dont expect a crowd, we looked a bit mad randomly waving at a camera shop but hey!
Hope it helps. Any questions, just e-mail me, i could talk about new york all day! ha! : claire.martin@homeserve.com

Hi Alana,

Been to New York twice now, once in jan and once in jun so seen both sides to it really!
i agree with claire, book things over here as it does save time, and also you can get carried away with just wondering round and taking it all in and before you know it a day has gone, so def plan ahead.
one thing we did was went a watched a basketball match at madison square gardens...this was brill, not that 'touristy' and what an amazing atmosphere!
also if skating is still going (think it ends april/may time) def ice skate in central park. that is really cool! even if you cant ice skate like me, and i had a huge swollen ankle from falling over whilst filming-so dumb!
hard rock cafe is a nice evening out, also going to see a show on broadway (i love all things musical so may not be your kind of thing) but def very good.

most of all enjoy and let us know all about it when your back!
anything else then just ask...

xxx

we went for our honey moon for 5 days, the only thing we'd do differently is stay nearer in Manhattan as of our budget we stayed at a 4* hotel but was in Brooklyn so added alot of time on our day and tiring after sight seeing

we brought over the net before we went a 3 day NYC pass, which we picked up from Planet Hollywood times sq, cost about 40 each but saved queuing and budgeting for alot of the attractions it included such as empire state, liberty, etc and it also had loads of other attractions inc like Madame Taussards and 10% off in Maceys

you will have an amazing time, just plan ahead and get a book before you go so you can do this. Buy a metrocard every day, about $7 a day (3.50) to go on the subway all day - pick up a subway map if you get a good guidebook a subway map is included (ours was an AA book)

any other questions let me know!
