From the very first lines, it is obvious that the intention of this book is to inspire. And inspire it does: 'Imagine walking hand in hand along a vast swathe of powdery white-sand beach, fringed by an iridescent... sea.' Jane Anderson reaches to the ends of the Earth to bring the 'best of the
best' in overseas wedding destinations to 'A Place To Wed'. Through lavish descriptions, she paints a glorious picture of these luxurious loci, whisking the reader away from reality and into the heart of an Indian oasis, the shade of a palm tree in Anguilla, or the solitude of a Malaysian retreat.
As well as containing a superb narrative and the breathtaking pictures, 'A Place To Wed?' offers comprehensive and accessible advice on the
practicalities of marrying in the featured resorts. Each review begins with a simple guide to the best times of year to hold a wedding at the destination, a list of the religious ceremonies catered for by the resort, and any period of
pre-residency required before the wedding.
In addition to this initial advice, Jane Anderson offers practical ideas and suggestions to make a wedding at any of these resorts the perfect day to
remember. From the best people to contact regarding marriage licences to examples of menus, from spa treatments offered to travel options available, all bases seems to be covered.
The extensive research conducted enhances the value of the book as a starting point for those planning to wed in a luxurious setting. Whilst
reading, however, it is hard not to let your mind run wild with extravagant plans - even in the case of those with a large budget. The destinations featured in this book truly cater for those with unlimited funds.
Although more economical options are suggested throughout, there seems to be no end to the enhancements and upgrades available if one should so choose. This is not criticism of the book, but more of a gentle warning to the reader that, unless those lottery tickets come up trumps, it is advisable to view this beautifully crafted volume less as a exhaustive wedding guide and, instead, as inspirational material from which to build your dream wedding day.
