'The Wedding Diaries: How to Get Married in Style Without Breaking the Bank'
Laura Bloom
White Ladder Press

This helpful guide to planning a wedding without going broke manages both to entertain (think Bridget Jones' Diary) and inform. By relating her own detailed experiences of preparing for her big day, Laura Bloom gives wonderful advice on how to have an exceptional wedding day and not go to debtor's prison. To say its all in the early planning might be too simplistic, but it does ring quite true. By following Laura's amazing wedding-organising journey (including delegating to others) we learn how she was able to keep avoidable stress at bay and give herself and her groom the opportunity to enjoy their magical day together with family and friends.

Between the diaries useful and frequently humorous anecdotes are incorporated various lists and tips from the best way to do something and when to do it, to 'Time Management', 'Estimated Budget' and numerous subtopics under the heading 'Dress for Success', such as 'The Gown', 'Bridesmaids', 'Men's Hire', etc. These lists give you an idea of not only different options with regards to personal preference and style - not just Laura's choices - but also approximate costs of these variations, from the low to high end. In addition to her To Do Lists, Tips and Best Buys, Laura also covers flowers, catering, wedding insurance, music, transport, venues, hair and make-up and just about every other relevant wedding-related topic you would want to add to your list. And all while we're enjoying this amusing read.

Read it and find out how Laura threw a fantastic traditional wedding for less than half of the national average cost. A thoroughly enjoyable book.

I thought this book was absolutely brilliant. The first thing that I thought of as I started reading it was how much it reminded of Bridget Jones's Diary. It really made me laugh and I could completely relate to a lot of the things she was going through.

I was actually quite keen to see if she could manage to create her ideal wedding on her original budget (£2500), and it was quite interesting to see just how easy it is to to start going over-budget and how you can make changes to cut back with a little compromise.

Laura managed to include some excellent lists and tips, not just about what she was spending her money on, but also listing alternatives and the approximate costs, so she had really done her research.

The last part of the book about her actual wedding got me completely lost, forgettting it was someone's actual wedding day and imagining it was a novel writing about the best wedding anyone could ever have! I was quite disappointed when I got to the end because I was enjoying it so much, and again it was hard to try and put into perspective that it was real. Bu the author has included a website adress at the end with photos of her wedding and it helps to see the pictures of the dresses she was describing, and the decoration of her reception venue.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone planning a wedding. It has some really helpful advise, and will give you some really good ideas for getting the day you want.

this book was excilent, its like bridget jones for brides.

the bullet points, list and hints and tips are great planning advice they dont just include what she did but other alternatives also.
there are some really great ideas all the way through the book.
even better are the money saving tips.

the book was very humerous all the way through.
the experiences in the book that she has are much like what im experiencing right now, so makes me feel a bit more relaxed, (im not the only one to feel like a bridezilla!) Aww, shy

the ending was a bit more like a novel than a diary.

at the end of the book there is a website of her wedding with pictures of the dress, the decorations and even the invitations.

all together id give this a 9/10 well worth investing in, just simply to have a laugh and to relax. really great!!

I received this book from my mother in law to be for Christmas. I started reading it in the evening and finished it the following day! It really is a must read for any bride to be, with excellent money saving and planning ideas, as well as important things to remember. Enjoy!!!
