???Your Brilliant Wedding Speech??? Helen Smith Foulsham £4.99
???Your Brilliant Wedding Speech??? is part of the Essentials line of books, more of which we will be reviewing soon. It is a pocket-sized book but does it pack the punch required to help with wedding speeches?
The book starts by taking us through who traditionally makes speeches at wedding and also covers more contemporary choices for speech makes, such as the bride. We get a step-by-step guide to help us plan, write and finally actually make the speech. Of course there are some suggestions for dealing with nerves as well!
???Your Brilliant Wedding Speech??? is occasionally a little repetitive, but it offers a lot of practical advice. It won???t take you long to read, but as it sinks in it will give you plenty to think about and consider. It ends with a good selection of sample speeches, toasts and quotes.
For a small book I have to say I found it full of great information and advice. No matter if you are an experienced speechmaker or a newbie, there is something here for you. Now if only I had looked this one over before making my wedding speech!

well, my first impressions of this book were actually pretty negative. I didn't like the way it looked and felt...
but, they do say 'don't judge a book by its cover'
that is sooooo true.
It's quite a handy little guide. It hasn't got ALL the information that some of these books have, but it does tell you quite a lot.
It is written in a easy-to-read way, and not too heavy going.
One little problem i have with it is i think some of the toasts/quotations are slightly inappropriate for a wedding. Although they are funny in a different context, i think perhaps 'though women are angels, wedlocks the devil'
or
'courtship to marriage is a very witty prelude to a dull play'
are not the best things to say at a WEDDING! The time when people should be saying how nice love/marriage is...
but maybe i have lost all humour when i found out about Brad Pitt being an evil cheat.

one more thing...
i forgot to mention. another good thing about the book is that it has useful websites in the back. This is very handy, but i guess it means the book will 'date' quite quickly.
