I think that you can have upto 3 different gift lists as they can all be completely different (John Lewis, Travel and Charity for instance) and you can then appeal to all the generations of people coming and the kind of gifts they like to give.

We've gone for a traditional list at John Lewis and a donations to charity option for just that reason. And of course people are free to turn up without a gift, I don't think we should expect presents just because we're getting married!

We went with e-weddinglist because we wanted to include lots of different things on our list too. You can put down anything because it's not a store - our guests just looked at what we wanted, promised to buy it and then went out and bought it from where they wanted to. We're really into camping so we put things like stoves and sleeping bags and some climbing gear we wanted to - not stuff you can usually get in a department store! We also put down some charity donations and were really pleased that so many people made a charity donation.
