Hey Girls,

I suppose this is more for the 'already marrieds'. What was the worst that happened at your wedding?

A friend of mine had to cancell her entire wedding due to the fact that three days before, the venue recieved a health check - and was shut down! This included her caterers, planner and flowers! Nobody could stand in to help - and she's lost a lot of deposits and cancellation fees!!

We all felt soo bad for her, that we pulled together and gave them a 'fake-wedding'.

Another friend was litterally blown away. Well, not her, but her entire Marquee!! The South Easter in Cape Town came up (Cape Doc, and he blows something fierce!) and blew her whole wedding receptin into the ocean!!! We all dubbed it the 'submarine wedding' afterwards, but at the time, it was heartwrenching!!!

Tell your horror stories!

Love and Lollie-pops

Well we were fortunate enough not to have any problems when we got married and just as well as we didn't have any insurance. Back in the day it wasn't something we thought about.

BUT now that I am working in the wedding industry I hear some absolute horror stories and what makes them even worse is that couples aren't covered.

I have brides phone me up all the time saying they have been let down by their supplier and asking if I can provide a quote for the insurers. And what I do in terms of monetary value isn't that much of a slice out of the overall budget (well in most cases it isn't!) but it is nonetheless a good job that they are covered.

And take what happened to Orsett Hall a few weeks ago - burnt down with weddings due that afternoon.

I've heard of car companies writing off their cars, florists going bust, dressmakers being admitted to hospital, venues changing hands and cancelling all bookings, caterers giving the top table food poisoning, caterers turning up 2 hours late just to list a few.

I really do think that at the very least you have to be covered for the things that you can't replace easily.
