I've just seen the dress that might be 'the one' i absolutely LOVE IT .... however..in the title of the dress is has the world 'Silk' (which to me means quite light and pure) but it's actually Duchess Silk Satin the dress is made of.

I've 'google'd' it and had conflicting answers..... some say it's a heavy fabric... some say it's lighter if it's duchess silk ...but then there is the satin part... very confusing!!

The point is, i'm getting married abroad and although I've decided I 'will' go bigger with my dress and have what i want.. i don't want anything stupidly heavy... can anyone help as to whether i will wilt in this material????

As much as i love it, it will be no good if i'm sweltering....

I'm not sure how heavy Duchess Silk Satin is. The best thing is to try a dress made out of it, then you'll have a good idea. Maybe some of the dresses in your fashion show will be made out of it. With all the rushing to get changed it will probably give you a good idea of how well you'll cope in the heat!

Hey hon,

You may actually ask someone to send you a sample piece of material.

Also, why don't you find a dress made in the same material, and try it on? If it feels good, you know you are safe... if it doesn't... then maybe keep looking?

Also, there is always a bit of baby-powder to absorb the sweat !!!

See why didn't I think of that??!! doh! Just try on a different dress of the same material.... god it's simple when you put some brains together isn't it!

I can order a sample in for 30..... but this particular dress a lot of people don't get in becauase it's silk and a bit more pricey (a lady on the phone earlier said... 'it's a bit pricey.. especially for down here in devon!'... what is she implying? lol Wave

Also a good idea Seona....see what comes up at the wedding show on Sunday... i'll try get them to put me in something made of that material then see how i feel after walking about abit!!
