Hi.
I've never written here, so I hope this comes out right!

Anyway, I'd love some tips on dress style.

I don't wear dresses at all, so I have no idea what suits me. I can't even imagine myself in a wedding dress!

To add to this problem, I am a size 8 on the bottom, but size 10 or 12 on the top, which is rubbish for dresses. I don't like my arms and am quite big so I keep thinking maybe a dress is not a good idea...

My budget is not very big either, as it will actually be a blessing service with a reception (we are getting married in Japan first).

Any suggestion on styles, places to look etc would be greatly received!

Thanks.

Naoko

hi there and welcome to weddingpath! Wave
i have the same problem that my top half is bigger than bottom half. you may be best looking for a 2 piece dress? or if your not keen on a dress you can get some lovely trouser suits?
but i think 2 piece dress may be your best option if you do decide to opt for a dress.
good luck and hope this makes sense.

A dress with a lace up corset top would help with the bigger top half. Corset tops give you a bit more option for loosening/tightening the dress so they fit perfectly. And it's worth remembering that any dress can be altered to fit you.

I'd recommend making an appointment at a bridal shop and trying lots of dresses on and seeing what you think.

Of course you don't have to have a proper wedding dress. If you'd rather go for something simpler than head to Monsoon, Debenhams or Coast and see what they've got. A cream trouser suit would look very elegant.

Thank you everyone for your advice!

I'll go and try on a few dresses and see what suits me etc.
