i think I saw my dress on the same website you may be talking about, and I couldnt find reviews of the site anywhere, so didnt want to take a chance.
I found a shop close to me though, that did very good deals on their dresses to anywhere else I went, like the one i saw was 700 they said they would do it for 550 so I went with them.
What is the designer of the dress?

oh, I wondered if I could recommend the place i got mine from, but they only stock a few designers, and thats not one of them.
Have you tried ringing all local stockists? Maybe just see who would do it the cheapest? Its a big chance to take with ordering it on the internet.
Good luck Wink

I bought my dresses from America (wedding dress and bridesmaid dress) and saved myself a fortune.

As long as your measure yourself carefully so that you order the right size and leave plenty of time for delivery. My dress was slightly delayed at the manufacturers and it only arrived 2 weeks before the wedding - thankfully it fit perfectly because I'd ordered the right size but I can imagine that 2 weeks before the wedding could be disastrous to some brides-to-be.

There are LOTS of topics about buying from America - if you click on 'search' right at the top of the page (right hand side) you can look through old forum topics that way.

Just remember that you will more than likely be made to pay a Customs charge for importing the dress - I think I paid around 60 for my dress. But the dress itself and shipping was only 250 so I still saved hundreds of pounds.

Hope this helps xx

thanks for the above i did look through old forum chats and found it very helpful and more web sites to look at. which i did reducing the price further and feeling a little happier about the taxes so now i will get the dress cheaper so then the taxes wont effect the budget too much thanks.
Thumbs up

Wave Have you considered getting one from Asia??

Some of the asian bridal suppliers on ebay, are the same that make Maggie Sottero dresses but at a fraction of the cost (like under 200 pounds).

It's something worth considering Smiles

Well i have never bought wedding items from america but i buy some items from ebay from america.
actually i bought the dress pattern for the bridesmaid from america......

anyway, they are different sizes, they are one size smaller than us i think US 14 = UK 16 (i think its great, i go down a dress size without doing anything!!!

the people i bought from on ebay were business and private sellers and all were lovely. i have never had to pay customs charges but perhaps that is because they were smaller value items???

anyway, good luck to you with your dress whatever you decide Big Grin

Hiya,
I get my bridesmaids dresses from an american site 'House of Brides', we had no problems.

Ordered them seperately and on got clobbered for customs duty on one, but they still worked out at less than half the uk price.

Just check the sizing measurements as they are different from the uk.
