Afternoon Ladies!!

Hubby and I have decided we are going to start trying for a baby...I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies have any tips and hints for successful conception, old wives tales etc...

Thanks in advance...

How exciting! I'd say just go for it to start with and enjoy the trying. I do know that one of the signs that you're ovulating is when you get an egg whitey discharge (nice, it's cervical mucous, even nicer). So look for that.

But take it easy to start with and see what happens. And don't forget your folic acid.

p.s. we may be doing something similar. But shhh, it's a secret...

Ok, this worked for me (twice!) we had sex every other day, it does get a little bit boring but it worked quite quickly for us.
I also started to take my folic acid as soon as we knew we wanted to start trying and I also went to the Drs and had a smear just to make sure everything was ok.
Most of all I would say don't stress and have fun trying!! Wink

relax and have fun.........as soon as you start looking at this as a means to get what you want ( ie...we have to have sex to get a baby) it wont happen.......

think about things you both enjoy to do (sexually) together and make sure you do these things at least once a week.....ie bath togethr, massage, romantic meals, fun games etc

dont let this enjoyable time you and hubby have become a task.......

enjoy enjoy and enjoy again....cos once you have kids you wont have time to enjoy it again Eeeeek

Let gravity do it's job and stick a pillow under your bum to stop it leaking out.

I swear, I thought that was an old wives tale, but we tried for two years to have our son, and after a coupe of months doing this we were pregnant!

Wave Hey

We decided to 'stop being careful' in March this year. I had already stopped taking the pill before Christmas. I started to take prenatal vitamins (just incase....who am I kidding, we were blatently trying, and not just being careful).

Although I convinced myself we weren't trying, I would be gutted every month when I wasn't pregnant! Typically, the one month I was too busy to worry about it (the few weeks before we got married) was when it happened so there is a lot of truth in relaxing, and not trying too hard if you know what I mean!

Good luck - keep us up to date!

Id say try positions where gravity can help deff no you on top.

Also a holiday both our children have been concieved while on holiday the first on a dirty weekend the second on our honeymoon.

Also like lots of the other ladies have said enjoy it and relax and try not to have sex just to make a baby

Good luck with trying

I know that lots of women swear by ovulation prediction kits, charting their temperature and their cycle using websites like fertility friend. It depends on whether you just want to go with the flow or want to be considerably more serious and slightly obsessive about it!! For what it's worth, when I start trying in April I'm going to just go with the flow and have sex more often!
