The Full Report of Our Wedding

Friday 10th April
The day before a wedding is supposed to be a day to relax and look forward to the day that follows; this was not the case for me.

The day started with me having to collect suits that had had to be altered and then collecting the cakes for the desserts. We then dropped everything for the wedding at the hotel ready for the following day.

Me and my hubby then said our goodbyes before he left to stay at his parents’ house where he would be getting ready for the wedding.

Soon after he had gone the florist arrived to drop off the thank you bouquets so that I could write the cards. I put the flowers into a bucket of water to keep them fresh but they were too heavy and the bucket fell over flooding my dining room. After cleaning this up I decided to write the cards before my friends arrived to toast my last night of freedom, this was not a good idea as the pen leaked and we spent most of the night removing the ink from my hands.

I went to bed thinking that all that can go wrong has and tomorrow should all run smoothly but was this the case?

Saturday 11th April: The Wedding Day
Our wedding day started bright and early as the hair dresser was arriving at 6.30 to start doing our hairs. I got up early and managed to eat a piece of toast which I didn't think I would be able to do.

We had started having our transformation when the hair dresser asked for the bag of hair accessories and tiaras. I went to get them out of the bedroom and discovered THEY WERE NOT THERE! We spent an hour looking for them then finally found they had fallen down the back of the filing cabinet in the office, how I do not know. Anyway we could continue getting ready only we were an hour behind schedule.

The photographer arrived to take the photographs of us leaving and only myself and my chief bridesmaid were dressed this left us with a mad panic to get the younger bridesmaids ready before the horse and carriage arrived.

My Dress was a Phil Collins dress which was amazing it made me cry everytime I put it on.

Our photographer was amazing she just slotted into the background catching natural shots while we were getting all our finishing touches done.

Then my father arrived, this was the first time he had seen the dress as although it had been stored at their house so husband to be could not see it he wanted to wait until the wedding day to see the complete outfit and he was amazed.

I must admit I shed more tears when I saw my dad’s face than when I saw my Husband to be (I think this is because I knew my husband would love me no matter what).

Anyway we all managed to be ready to leave before the horse and carriage arrived. This had always been my dream to have a horse and carriage for my wedding. Myself and my dad went in the horse and carriage and for my mom and three bridesmaids we hired a Daimler Limo. This was great too.

We had both our ceremony and evening reception at the Ramada Hotel and Resort Birmingham and it was amazing. We decided to have a late ceremony and then an evening buffet to cut down the cost to try to stick within our budget.

We had a chimney sweep come with the horse and carriage and he gave us a horse shoe after the ceremony for good luck

The evening started with a magic show for the children which was essential as children played a big part in our wedding. We then decided to follow this with the speeches so that my dad, Nathan and my brother who was the best man could relax and enjoy the food. They all did me proud.

We had a lilac and ivory colour scheme for the wedding.

Our wedding cake was made by my chief bridesmaid (SIL) and was brilliant.

During our evening reception we had a DJ and a chocolate fountain which I would definitely recommend as it was a big hit.

Our first dance was to Enrique Iglesias Hero. This was the song we danced to when we first met so it was very special to us.

We surprised all of our guests with this as we had been having secret dance lessons for 12 weeks leading up to the wedding they were all amazed.

Following this we had a father and daughter dance to 'a song for my daughter' by ray Allier. This song is brilliant and always brings a tear to my eye when I hear it.

We spent the night of the wedding in the honeymoon suite and the hotel which was nice as my mom and dad looked after our daughter which allowed us some quality time together.

This day was one of the best days of our lives and although we had a few problems in the build up once we arrived at the hotel it went without any hitches and I would do it all again tomorrow if it didn't cost so much.
