Hi All,
1st time I have been on here so apologies if this has already been asked.
I finally got round to putting my dress in a box Back in July 08 (have been married since April 07) I put the box near a radiator (I know I should have kept it away from there but the central heating wasnt being used at that point and I had no where else for it to go) unfortunately the radiator leaked and it got into the box and as I hadnt realised straight away the train has now got mould spots on it I have taken it to the dry cleaners but it didnt budge (they say they try 3 times) Does anyone know any other ways I could get it out or is it a lost cause now
Any help accepted
Ctm.

Hi
I haven't yet found anything that could get mould spots out Perhaps you could take it to a seamstress though and get the train shortened, so that it isn't visible anymore
Let us know how you get on

just found this in a forum aswell
My wife was about to throw away our toddlers new dress as mold had developed when a damp cloth had laid on it for a few weeks.
We tried washing it few times but to no avail. After looking for a few tips on the web (not much help there as sun here in the UK is a rare commodity), I tried 2 cap full of Milton baby Sterilising fluid in about 3 or 4 lt of water and let the dress soak overnight. Next day clean as a whistle, all mold stains gone and no visible loss in color of the dress itself (a very colorful toddlers dress).
might be worth a try, lots of girls on here have washed there dresses themselves so might be an idea to try it out

Take it to a dressmakers (and get the train shortened)as it depends on what your dress is made of as a lot of wedding dresses you cant wash is it worth the risk unless you want it to fit barbie seems the best idea Never soak it with vinager or put in the sun(as this turnes it yellow) never put bleach near it as it night burn it best of luck

I've washed two wedding dresses, both in the bath and in the machine. I have also used bleach, persil, ariel, comfort, lenor, vanish, and that other whitening one that I can never remember.
A wedding dress does have boning and stuff in it, and there is no denying they do prefer dry cleaning, but at the end of the day they are only material, and as long as you are careful you can wash them yourself. I aren't sating you will get as good a result as a dry cleaner, as they use petroleum, and the chemicals can prevent insects making your dress their new home.
It depends how much of a risk taker you are. The first dress I washed was a cheap one from ebay, the second was a Maggie, and both survived!
If you have already taken the dress to a dry cleaner, and they can't help, I would try the treatments Bev suggested on only the affected parts. If they still don't work, you can then take it to a dres maker to see if they can salvage it!
I hope you get the problem sorted

Thanks for all your replies,
Havent yet tried anything other than taking it to a dry cleaners
I cant get the train shortend as its right at the top on both sides (train is detachable from dress so at least I still have my dress )
Its made of satin and has lots of beading on it. It's a forever yours gown
Thanks again Will let you know how I get on
